Restoring the Chorus

Psalms are full of truth and emotion, teaching us about who God is and showing us how to relate to Him. Psalm 136 is recognized as a praise Psalm focusing on Israel’s history from creation, through deliverancefrom Egypt, and into the Promise Land. The structure of this song likely made it a favorite among the congregation because it was simple and memorable. By Jews, the Psalm is known as the “Great Thanksgiving” calling Jews to look back to what God has done in order to look forward to what God will do through His coming Messiah.
