When Jesus called Peter to Himself, he said: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus’ call was never to follow my instructions, my rules, or my traditions—it was to follow HIM. Jesus calls people to find rest in HIM. Jesus calls people to find joy in HIM. Jesus calls people to find purpose in HIM. Jesus calls people to find strength in HIM. Jesus calls people to find hope in HIM. Peter dropped everything and followed, not because he knew where they would end up, but because he knew wherever it was, Jesus would be there. He wanted to go wherever the Lord was going and do whatever Lord was doing. Peter was Christ-centered. But there is a difference between being Christ-centered and Cross-Centered.
