The bible has much to say about repentance. A good definition of repentance is a change of mind which results in a change of behavior or action. Another, more detailed definition is that repentance is a heartfelt sorrow for sin, a renouncing of it, and a sincere commitment to forsake it and walk in obedience to Christ. True repentance is always accompanied by faith. Not only is it a turning away from sin resulting in a change of mind and behavior, it is a turning toward Christ.
Many may consider repentance simply a turning away from sin, and that certainly is part of repentance but it’s also theoretically possible to turn away from a certain sin without having a change of mind and heart about it. Change in behavior always happens as a result of repentance and it’s because the mind and heart have been changed.
